Third largest idgah of India, situated in Mandu, Madhya Pradesh, India. It was built in the 14th century, during the rule of the Sultans of Malwa, especially during the rule of Mahmud Khalji of the Khalji dynasty, changing the design of a Sanskrit University to an idgah.

Idgah Of Bhopal:

Largest idgah of India. It was built by Nawab Shah Jahan Begum in 1879. It is situated on the Idgah Hills, in northern Bhopal. Nawab Shah Jahan Begum was one of the Nawab Begums of Bhopal.

In 1971, India abolished royal entitlements through the 26th Amendment to the Constitution of India. Nawab Begum Sajida Sultan Ali Khan Pataudi was married to Nawab Mohammad Iftikhar Ali Khan Pataudi, who was a Indian prince & a cricket player. Saba Ali Khan Pataudi, who was born in 1976, is the grand daughter of Nawab Begum Sajida Sultan Ali Khan Pataudi. Saba Ali Khan Pataudi is a jewellery designer & chief trustee of Auqaf-e-Shahi and the sister of actors Saif Ali Khan & Soha Ali Khan.

Difference Between Idgah & Mosque

• Idgah is a vast open-air public space with walled enclosure and a niche, which points towards Mecca. But, mosque is an indoor building with walls, roofs & minarets.
• Idgah is usually located at the edge or outside the city. Mosque is located inside the neighbourhoods and communities.
• Idgah is used for large communal morning prayers, like Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha, and generally left empty during the rest of the year. Mosque is used for salah & Jumu’ah.
